I am in First Grade at St. John the Evangelist in Mahopac, NY and the good Sister is teaching us how to form letters.  

I put curlicues on mine. 

It does not get me the kudo’s I’d expected. :(

Unbelievably enough, I am told I have to wait until next year to learn Script!

The next year - I slavishly mimic the letters in the Penmanship book. I write my name over and over and over to make it look pretty. 

All grown up with a love for letters still, I sign up for a class at Westchester Community College learning to aspire to pen excellence under Emily Brown Shields -

And many more classes follow ~with other calligraphers & artists such as Ursula Seuss,  Jerry Tresser, Ward Dunham, Michael Sull, Patricia Miranda and Karen Gorst ~
